This website was created after Dr. Dan Nicolau, MD was victimized by members of the Church of Scientology. Dr. Nicolau has had a stellar career graduating Magna Cum Laude with a major in Biomedical Science from Texas A&M University. He then went to medical school and fell in love with the practice of Psychiatry. Afterwards he finished his Psychiatry residency at ETSU in Johnson City, TN. Right out of residency he was hired for the position of ETSU professor and Medical Director of Woodridge Hospital's geriatric psychiatric unit, now under the Ballad Health system. A position with this much responsibility is quite an honor and rare for someone just finishing their training. Dr. Nicolau also taught medical students and residents and specializes in addiction treatment. He has helped thousands of patients get off of drugs and have a stable life.
Psychiatrists often have to deal with unstable people. Many years ago Dr. Nicolau was falsely accused of stalking and various other accusations by a serial accuser that Dr. Nicolau tried to help. An investigator informed him he was the 4th person this acquaintance accused of stalking. The accusations were false, without merit, and dismissed. To illustrate the absurdity of the situation, several months before this incident Dr. Nicolau purchased a Ruger 380 handgun for this acquaintance so they could protect themselves after they convinced him a federal police officer was stalking them (alleged stalker #3). There are articles published online which suggest otherwise, these are simply not true.
Dr. Nicolau initially had extremely poor legal advice which led him to report his attorney, Tom Jessee, to the Board of Professional Responsibility. The advice given and forms he was forced to sign under false pretense were the reasons for reporting his attorney. The events that occurred up to this point and which subsequently unfolded are quite frankly unbelievable and could not be made up if they were not true.
Because Dr. Nicolau is a Psychiatrist he was further victimized by members of the Church of Scientology. Specifically by a Scientologist by the name of Ken Kramer and CCHR. Mr. Kramer runs a website Psychsearch devoted to reporting anything negative about Psychiatrists. CCHR is an arm of the Church of Scientology that runs more operations targeted at Psychiatrists. CCHR even has a museum where they claim Psychiatrists are responsible for 911 and the holocaust. This is not a joke, this museum actually exists.
Scientologists under the pseudonym CCHR (and others, they have many websites by different names) continue to publish multiple articles about Dr. Nicolau making various false accusations against Dr. Nicolau's good name. They have gone to the extent of posting numerous fictitious and defamatory legal documents, photos, and articles claiming he has committed some kind of crime. These do not actually exist as Dr. Nicolau has never committed or been convicted of any crime whatsoever.
CCHR was also brazen enough to file a bogus complaint with the medical board from a woman Dr. Nicolau never treated or even met in his life. This is the extent these people go to to stop doctors from practicing Psychiatry. Dr. Nicolau has no issues with his medical license. He is not on probation and has no restrictions at all despite what the articles published by these Scientologists suggest. As the saying goes, don't believe everything you read. Dr. Nicolau won a $1 Million dollar lawsuit for defamation against the Scientologists making false statements against him.
Despite having an awful, dishonest attorney, enduring false accusations from a serial accuser, and then being attacked by Scientologists Dr. Nicolau did not give up and continues to help his patients every day struggling with mental health conditions and addiction.

Dr. Nicolau sued Mr. Kramer and Psychsearch for defamation. They posted material that was not true. The only purpose was to defame Dr. Nicolau because he is a Psychiatrist. Unfortunately the public really has no idea when they read an article about a Psychiatrist who really is behind it and if it's true. How seriously can you take the author if they believe aliens are living in volcanoes and causing all of humanities ills? This behavior is very disturbing because it affects our healthcare system and the public's access to physicians for mental health treatment.
We have also found more reports online about Mr. Kramer and his Psychsearch website committing similar offenses. Here is a great article about Ken Kramer and what his agenda is. If you have also been victimized please find an attorney and set the record straight. This country is short on Psychiatrists and has never needed them more than now.
A question that we believe the public and lawmakers should consider is to think of how many people have suffered or died as a result of the actions of people like Mr. Kramer who interfere with a Psychiatrists ability to practice medicine?
Why do Scientologists do this? Scientology's beliefs were created by their founder L. Ron Hubbard. Hubbard, reportedly a schizophrenic, disliked Psychiatrists after they told his wife Sara Northrup Hollister he should be institutionalized due to his illness. Hubbard was a science fiction writer and turned his fictional stories into this so called religion. Many people say it's a cult as the TIME article "Scientology: The Thriving Cult of Greed and Power" describes. South Park has even mocked the absurdity of these beliefs.
Their beliefs involve aliens that inhabit volcanoes, flying in "DC-9 like" aircraft, and entering peoples bodies... another alien named "Xenu" enters the picture somewhere... very bizarre. The schizophrenia Mr. Hubbard reportedly suffered from explains a lot of these nonsensical ideas in Scientology's beliefs. Schizophrenia's core symptoms are delusions, hallucinations, disorganized speech or behavior, and negative symptoms as described in the DSM 5. Another victim, Leah Remini now has a show on A&E Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath which "gives a voice to victims of Scientology".
Any reasonable person would not take anything said or printed by a Scientologist like Mr. Ken Kramer seriously. However, these people have created various websites and organizations that appear legitimate and the public may not realize they are run by Scientologists. Dr. Nicolau has spent his career helping people with mental illness and addiction and was not intimidated by these attacks.
What did he do? He took them to court, just like any other Psychiatrist or person should do if victimized by Mr. Kramer or his associates and won a $1 million judgement. Dr. Nicolau has also sued CCHR "Citizens Commission on Human Rights" a group founded by Scientology whose self stated purpose is "Anti-Psychiatry" whom Mr. Kramer was reported to work for as their treasurer.
Who better to know about what Mr. Kramer and CCHR are doing than from a former Scientologist? Mike Rinder is this person and has many articles about what Scientology really is. Going after Psychiatrists is not the worst allegation against them. In 1995 Scientology was sued for the wrongful death of Lisa McPherson. They were reportedly involved in a criminal conspiracy to purge evidence of themselves including breaking into the IRS under operation "Snow White". Our President Donald Trump reportedly believes their tax exempt status should be revoked in this article. In 2019 an ex-member accused them of child abuse, human trafficking, forced labor, and harassment in this Yahoo and NBC report. Later that year Scientology's leader David Miscavige was served again in a case alleging "child abuse".
www.xenu.net has a more comprehensive collection of the misdeeds and illegalities of Scientology and their history. CCHR is continuing to threaten and harass Dr. Nicolau. They have hired a high profile attorney Daniel Horwitz to further harass and intimidate Dr. Nicolau, adding to their culpability. We can't imagine why a man such as Mr. Horwitz with such a talent and intelligence would work for Scientologists. This is something he will have to come to terms with for himself.
For Mr. Horwitz to represent a group that is trying to eradicate the practice of Psychiatry is unconscionable. He is also placing himself in the company of other attorneys such as Kendrick Moxon that represent CCHR and Mr. Kramer. All you have to do is click on the link and read about him. What they don't realize is physicians have gone through much worse in terms of sacrifice and dedication, and intimidation to get to where they are at. Baseless lawsuits, further harassment, and threats are not a deterrent for the truth.

When Psychiatrists such as Dr. Nicolau are attacked by Scientologists such as Mr. Ken Kramer it can disrupt their very important work of making sick patients better. Some of these "anti-Psychiatry" organizations have almost unlimited funds.
